Badges
Throughout your travels, you will encounter various opportunities to obtain badges. Badges are recognitions that you have completed difficult and arduous tasks. Badge tasks often include defeating a large number of the same kind of monster, defeating towers, completing Crafting assignments, or helping protect an organization.
You can look at what badges you have, the badges you have discovered, and your progress for each badge on your Character Screen by pushing "C". You can also choose a badge to display as your title on your name plate, or choose ‘No Title’ and have the default title display. The default title consists of two parts. The first is your level status and the second is the kind of wizard you are based on your school.

6-10:Apprentice

Ways to Chat
There are four different types of chat. Depending on your account, and how it is setup, one or several of the chat types below may be available to you. The types of chat available to Wizards are:
1. Menu Chat: This is also referred to as "bubble chat". It is completely safe and all players may use the Menu Chat.
To use Menu Chat, simply select the Chat icon from the upper left corner of your screen. A list of categories and words will appear that you can select from that looks like this:
2. Text Chat: This is a form of chat that allows you to communicate with other players by pressing the Enter key and typing words from our dictionary.
When you press Enter on your keyboard, you can type words from our Wizard Dictionary, and then hit Enter to say your sentence.
Chat can be seen in two different ways:
1. “Say” – is a kind of chat that anyone in your area can see. These appear as bubbles above your character's head as well as sentences in the Chat Window.
2. “Text” – is person to person chat regardless of where they are in the game (remember: you can only Text to your level of approved chat). You can use this chat with characters that are on your Friends List .

3. 18+ Open Chat
18+ Open Chat allows players a more open communication environment with other 18+ players.
This chat will be filtered for profanity. In this channel, when players type their text they will see 3 colors in the chat window: white means 13+ can see it, yellow means only 18+ can see it, and red is completely filtered.
This chat feature is in response to our community's requests. To ensure the highest level of safety, we have chosen to provide this for our active Members only.
Please note that this option is off by default, and you must actively select this option under Account Management.
Our terms for in-game communication with other players will remain the same. Violent and abusive behavior, as well as the exchange of personal information is still not acceptable.
Accounts must be verified as 18+ through a valid credit card on file with Wizard101.
4. True Friend Chat: This is the same as "Text Chat" except it is enabled through the use of a "True Friend" code. If a Wizard knows a friend in real life, outside of the game, they can exchange a code that will allow them to communicate with one another. It may be used by Wizards of all ages, however True Friend Chat must first be enabled through the Parental Controls for accounts under 13.
To Get or Check a True Friend Code, open your Friends panel and click on the 0101 button. This will open the above panel, and allow you to either Get a Code, or Check a Code. Make sure you give these codes only to people you know outside of Wizard101.

Reporting Inappropriate Language
If you experience someone in the game who is being inappropriate, select their name in the chat window and the Friends Panel will appear - select the Report Button and enter the reason for the report (you have 30 characters) and press "Report".
When you report someone, or you are reported, a message is sent directly to Mr Lincoln that includes the chat logs of everything that was said before and after that report.
Mr Lincoln then reads the log and assess the situation. He determines how bad the offense was, looks up prior offenses for the reported individual, and based on that assessment he issues sanctions such as muting or banning and sends an email to the offending account explaining the violation and the sanctions.
Reporting Inappropriate Language
If the report was falsely made, that is determined as well, and the player who made the false report is investigated as to whether or not they have made previous false reports. False reports are just a egregious as valid ones, and similar sanctions can be levied against repeat offenders of false reporting.
Everything that a player enters into the chat window is logged. These larger chat logs are also routinely checked for those infractions that are not reported.
We ask that you use the reporting feature to identify truly egregious behavior, such as creative profanity (swearing around the filters), solicitation of usernames/passwords, predatory threats, racist comments and other such actions as outlined in the Terms of Use. The old story of “the kid that cried wolf” has a lot of bearing in this situation and we trust that all reports received by players are valid and require support intervention.

Grouping
Grouping helps players stay together when battling or travelling to a new area. When you join a battle, there will be spots reserved for your other group members if they are travelling with you in the same area. They will be asked if they want to join your combat. If so, they will be teleported to your battle. A reserved spot that you see in the world may be for someone in your group or for a different group.
To invite someone to join your group, click on them and this will open your Friends Panel. There you will see the option to Invite to Group.
Now that you're in a group, you will see a new Group section to your Friends List. You can leave a Group at any time by clicking the Leave Group option on the Group section of the Friends panel.
Grouping
Groups can chat on a Group Chat channel that no one outside the group can see. This text will be show in blue in your Chat Window.
Before you get Shopping in Wizard101, you will need to know the currency types. There are three types of currency:
1. Gold The first and most popular type of currency in Wizard101 is Gold
Gold is used to buy items and treasure cards from shops or vendors. Some items are available for gold in the onscreen ‘Shop’. Gold is usually obtained by completing quests, selling equipment to the shops, defeating monsters, playing mini-games (successfully), or finding treasure chests.
Gold is very necessary to ease your progression through the game, so make sure you get a lot!
2. Crowns The second type of currency is called Crowns. Crowns are purchased through the Wizard101.com website, and spent in the game.
Crowns are the currency in the Wizard101 micro transaction or ‘cash shop’ system. Crowns are used to purchase items such as treasure cards and clothing in-game.
Crowns can also be used by non-Members to purchase access to Premium Zones.
3. Arena Tickets The third type of currency is called Arena Tickets. Arena Tickets are earned by participating in Ranked Player vs Player combat and Ranked Derby as well as PvP Tournaments. These Arena Tickets can only be spent at certain shopkeepers at the Arena in Unicorn Way and the Pet Pavilion.

Shops - Buying
A shopping area exists in every world, and is either in the center zone of the world, or right next to it. Shops offer many items up for sale, and shopping area merchants accept gold in their shops.
If you would like to buy an item, walk up to the shopkeeper and type "X.” Then, scroll through the available items to choose the one you want. Once you're happy with the item, click BUY.
Shops - Selling
In addition to buying items, you can also sell items to shopkeepers. To do this, interact with a shopkeeper by pressing "X.” Then, click on the SELL tab at the top of the screen. Click the item you wish to sell, and then select SELL.
Items are sold to shopkeepers for a lot less than their actual value. So if you buy something, make sure you really want it!

The SHOP
There's a SHOP icon on your screen and it is a one stop shop that players have access to at nearly every point in the game. Zeke will no longer be selling items for Crowns, and items previously sold by Zeke can now be found in the regular Shopkeepers of the worlds of the Spiral.
When you first open the SHOP, you will see several tabs across the top, each with a different icon. Here you can shop for items on sale, gold, mounts, elixirs, bundles of clothing, henchmen and booster packs.
Once you've chosen your purchase, you will be prompted to confirm your purchase, and your payment method. Some items can be purchased for both gold and Crowns, so make sure you're buying it with the currency you wish to spend.
Arena Ticket Shopkeepers
Some Shopkeepers only accept Arena Tickets. Arena Tickets are earned only through Ranked Player vs Player matches in the Arena.
Diego is an example of an Arena Ticket Shopkeeper.
Hidden Secrets
Some worlds have secrets! Look for hidden areas that allow you to access special Shopkeepers and Trainers. Some of these areas are only accessible at certain times of day, so watch for clues!

Wizard101 has a Bazaar!
Olde Town is the place to be - there you will find the Bazaar. Players are able to sell their extra items to a new shopkeeper named Elik Silverfist. That's me on the left! I'll pay you the value in gold for the item based on supply and demand. If I already have lots of the item you are selling me then I will pay you less gold for yours. If I'm low or out of stock on the item you are selling, I will pay you more gold!
This also means that if I have lots of an item already in my inventory, I will sell it for a lower price, and if I only have a few, or one, I will sell the item for a much higher price! All prices are based on my current stock of items, so shop often for that special bargain, young Wizards! And don't worry, if someone sells an item on Wu Realm, and you're on Pixie, you'll see it in my inventory - I've got all the Realms covered!
Gift Giving
Players can choose to purchase an item from a shopkeeper or the SHOP button on their screen, and Gift that item to another player on their Friends list.
Not all items are giftable, and only items purchased with Crowns (not gold) can be gifted. Just look for the little gift icon when you're shopping, select an item and click on Gift.
This Gift giving feature is controlled through Parental Controls. Players over the age of 18 will be able to send Gifts to any other player on their Friends list. Players under the age of 18 will need to enable this feature through the Parental Controls on their account.

Trading Treasure Cards
Non-Enchanted Treasure Cards are the only items that can be traded between players.
To trade treasure cards with a nearby friend, click them in your Friends List and then click on Trade. A screen will open (like the one above) that allows you to place whichever cards you want to from your section called ‘My Stuff’. When you click on one of your cards in ‘My Stuff’ it is transferred over to the left side of the screen. Once you and your friend agree on the trade, click Trade and the cards will automatically be transferred to the other player.
Remember if you do not think the trade is fair, or the other person is trading a 'code' or a promise of a Crowns item, DO NOT ACCEPT THE TRADE. Buyer beware.
Banking
When you gain items, they are sent to your backpack. If your backpack is full, all excess pieces you collect are automatically transported to your bank located in your Dorm or House. You can go to your dormitory or house at any time you choose to access your bank. Then, you can either store certain items for safekeeping or withdraw items to use in your adventures.
Castles & Lands do not fill up your backpack. If you buy a Castle the number of items in your backpack does not increase. Housing items (furniture, decorations etc) are stored in your attic.

Trading Items Between Your Characters
Players can now share most items between characters on their own account. Simply go to your Bank in your Dorm room or Castle and you will see a tab for the Shared Bank.
This allows players to exchange items between characters on their account, but not between characters on two different accounts. Some items cannot be shared and will be marked with the words No Trade.
Player to Player Trade
The trade of items other than non-enchanted Treasure Cards will NOT be a part of Wizard101.
We feel that an economy of item trading is not appropriate for our game. In-game item trading economy does not fit with our values and vision for Wizard101.
Crowns Items in your Backpack
You can tell which items you have equipped and which items you paid for with Crowns in your Backpack.
